Is Justin Bieber really going to perform in North Korea? No, of course it isn’t. Unless you believe the online poll results over at Bieber’s official web page that has North Korea winning with more than 600,000 votes, supposedly sending the message that his North Korean fans – if he even has any – want him to come to the communist nation and perform.
It’s highly unlikely that “Bieber fever” has even reached North Korea when almost everything western is considered taboo in that side of the world, thanks to their formidable leader Kim Jong Il.
The online poll allowed the pop star’s fans to vote for the country that Bieber should include in his “My World” tour itinerary. Apparently, internet pranksters successfully hacked the poll and added countries like North Korea, which previously held the 24th spot before ruling the poll, and Israel, which currently holds the second position by a slim 30,000 vote margin.
4chan, a popular internet forum and message board was allegedly behind the prank, according to Hollywood News. The same website was also being held responsible for the Fourth of July pranks that Bieber’s fans encountered while searching for the artist over the net. The users were redirected to pages and pop-ups with outrageous content from pornographic to false reports claiming that Bieber has passed away.
Bieber’s fans are still awaiting confirmation if he really is stopping by North Korea after the poll closed earlier today. But for his sake, he should not give this idea some thought, unless he wants to spend the rest of his life in hard labor while singing “Baby” – if he’ll even be allowed to.
Meanwhile, the artist will kick off the US leg of his tour tomorrow
