Justin Bieber Tour

Look for the Golden Ticket in Bieber’s ‘My World’

Has there ever been a young artist who has done as good a job creating a buzz for their debut album as Justin Bieber? The kid from Canada who kick started his entire career from posting footage of him singing onto YouTube is going completely grassroots. He is building up followers on Twitter, making friends on Facebook, making strategic singles, and having key performances on major shows like “Ellen” and “Today.” The efforts have all been a lead up to the November 17 release of My World, his debut album which features the singles “Love Me,” “One Less Lonely Girl” and “One Time.”

The next chapter for Bieber’s media blitz is something that he borrowed from Willy Wonka. Via Twitter Bieber announced that some of the copies from his new album would have golden tickets bundled with them. The recipients of the tickets will get a typically Bieber fan friendly prize. They will get a private Bieber concert. It is expected that legions of his rabid fans will be picking up truckloads of copies of his new album, My World, in order to have an opportunity for getting a personal Bieber show.

Justin Bieber is not the first musical artist to borrow the idea from Roald Dahl. Other rock bands have attempt to boost sales for their albums by promising prizes inside of them. The band Lamb of God had lottery tickets included with their album Wrath (2009) redeemable for signed memorabilia and trips for seeing the band. 30 Seconds To Mars had a dozen gold tickets that were dispersed into copies of their album A Beautiful Lie. The winner got backstage access that was free to any concerts of the band’s. The recent promotion of HEALTH might have topped them all so far. There were 66 golden tickets circulated with Get Color, their recent album, redeemable for various prizes that included a Los Angeles trip for hanging out with band members, posters that were autographed with band members blood and different types of personalized content. One favorite was a recording of one of the band members reading a short story.
