Justin Bieber is not backing down on this paternity suit. The ‘Never Say Never’ singer is currently in Europe for two weeks but will voluntarily go through a paternity test to solidify his claim that he is not the father of Mariah Yeater’s three-month old child.
In a statement sent to MTV News, the singer’s spokesman Matthew Hiltzik said, “I can confirm that the team has proactively made arrangements for Justin to be tested upon his return and we’re going to hold everyone who is involved responsible.” Not only will he go through the DNA test to settle the paternity issue once and for all, but he will also file a counter lawsuit against Yeater and her lawyers to teach them a lesson that while he may be an easy target for such accusations, he is a much harder opponent to beat in court.
Hiltzik added, “It’s sad that someone would fabricate malicious, defamatory, and demonstrably false claims. We’ll vigorously pursue all available legal remedies to protect Justin and to hold those involved with bringing this suit accountable for their actions.”
On Friday and fresh from his big win – or wins – at the MTV European Music Awards, Bieber appeared on NBC’s ‘Today’ to promote his new record, ‘Under the Mistletoe’. He also straightforwardly addressed the issue through host Matt Lauer, “I’d just like to say, basically, that none of those allegations are true. I know I’m going to be a target, but I’m never going to be a victim.” He also explained how Yeater’s story is obviously fabricated from the very beginning down to the minutest detail. His accuser claims that she and Biebs had a quick unprotected tryst backstage immediately after the singer’s show at the Staples Center in Los Angeles last year. “I think it’s crazy because every night after the show, I’ve gone right from the stage right to my car,” Bieber responded. He also added that he has “never met the woman”.
The woman, 20-year old Mariah Yeater, is in the brink of facing her own rap sheet as the Los Angeles police is contemplating on charging her with statutory rape, since it seems that Bieber was only 16 years old while she was 19 when the night in question allegedly happened.
Bieber will not only take a paternity test as he soon as he sets foot in the US on November 17, he’s also returning to ‘Today’ for a performance and will also appear on ‘The View’ on the same day.
