Justin Bieber’s Under the Mistletoe Debuts at 1 on Billboard Charts

Posted by Janice Bryant On November - 10 - 2011

Justin Bieber is not nearing the end of his teenage years yet, but that doesn’t stop him from dominating the charts and record books with his newest release, the seasonal ‘Under the Mistletoe’.

After moving 210,000 copies during its first week, ‘Mistletoe’ is now sitting atop the Billboard 200 this week. The album also earned Bieber a distinction that he now shares with just six artists – Susan Boyle, Josh Groban, Kenny G, Mitch Miller, Bing Crosby and the King of Rock n’ Roll Elvis Presley – for topping the Billboard 200 with a holiday-themed record. And with still a few months before his birthday, the 17-year old singer/songwriter has cemented himself as the only artist to have three no.1 albums before reaching 18 years of age, with his first full-length studio effort ‘My World 2.0’ and his first remix release ‘Never Say Never’ rounding up the list.

Indeed, this must be Justin’s sweetest Christmas ever, because topping everything off is the fact that he actually has someone – Selena Gomez – that he can kiss under the mistletoe – talk about having a very merry Christmas.

Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga to Party in NYC for New Year’s Eve

Two of this year’s biggest hit makers, Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga, will join forces in saying goodbye to 2011 and welcoming 2012 as they are set to perform in NYC’s Times Square on New Year’s Eve as the famous ball drops to mark the start of a new year.

“On the last day of each year, Times Square, the ‘Crossroads of the World,’ becomes the focal point for millions of viewers across the globe,” said George Fertitta, CEO of NYC & Company which officially manages the city’s marketing and tourism businesses.

The New Year’s Eve ball in Times Square is a long-celebrated tradition dating back to 1908. For years, it has gathered more than a million city dwellers and tourists as they anticipate the midnight countdown and the descension of the ball, prepped by live performances from today’s hottest artists. It is also televised live globally, with over a billion people worldwide partaking in the festivities through their TV sets.

Justin Bieber Agrees to Paternity Test

Justin Bieber is not backing down on this paternity suit. The ‘Never Say Never’ singer is currently in Europe for two weeks but will voluntarily go through a paternity test to solidify his claim that he is not the father of Mariah Yeater’s three-month old child.

In a statement sent to MTV News, the singer’s spokesman Matthew Hiltzik said, “I can confirm that the team has proactively made arrangements for Justin to be tested upon his return and we’re going to hold everyone who is involved responsible.” Not only will he go through the DNA test to settle the paternity issue once and for all, but he will also file a counter lawsuit against Yeater and her lawyers to teach them a lesson that while he may be an easy target for such accusations, he is a much harder opponent to beat in court.

Hiltzik added, “It’s sad that someone would fabricate malicious, defamatory, and demonstrably false claims. We’ll vigorously pursue all available legal remedies to protect Justin and to hold those involved with bringing this suit accountable for their actions.”

On Friday and fresh from his big win – or wins – at the MTV European Music Awards, Bieber appeared on NBC’s ‘Today’ to promote his new record, ‘Under the Mistletoe’. He also straightforwardly addressed the issue through host Matt Lauer, “I’d just like to say, basically, that none of those allegations are true. I know I’m going to be a target, but I’m never going to be a victim.” He also explained how Yeater’s story is obviously fabricated from the very beginning down to the minutest detail. His accuser claims that she and Biebs had a quick unprotected tryst backstage immediately after the singer’s show at the Staples Center in Los Angeles last year. “I think it’s crazy because every night after the show, I’ve gone right from the stage right to my car,” Bieber responded. He also added that he has “never met the woman”.

The woman, 20-year old Mariah Yeater, is in the brink of facing her own rap sheet as the Los Angeles police is contemplating on charging her with statutory rape, since it seems that Bieber was only 16 years old while she was 19 when the night in question allegedly happened.

Bieber will not only take a paternity test as he soon as he sets foot in the US on November 17, he’s also returning to ‘Today’ for a performance and will also appear on ‘The View’ on the same day.
