Demi Lovato Recording a Duet with Justin Bieber

Posted by Deena Edison On July - 29 - 2011

While some people may have been waiting for a Justin Bieber – Selena Gomez duet single because you know, they are a couple now, that may have to wait as another Disney princess gets a piece of the Bieber fever action, Demi Lovato.

If Tweets from music producer and rapper Sebastian are to be believed – or correctly speculated, that is – it looks like a collaboration between Lovato and Bieber are in the works, and the single may appear in the female pop star’s upcoming studio effort, produced by Sebastian and Timbaland.

No one has confirmed the rumor yet, but you be the judge. Here is Sebastian’s tweet earlier today: “Wow we had some special guests stop by in the @ddlovato session today. Could it be a super duet in the process. Stay tuned!” After which, one of his followers tried to guess and she seemed to be right on the money: “@AndreaLovesSwag u said justin bieber that is a very very good guess,” the rapper posted in response. Adding up to the clues is that Bieber was in Boca Raton last night for his girlfriend’s show, and that’s just an hour ride away from Miami, where Lovato is recording her new album. Not to mention, Demi and Selena are good friends.

So yeah, it does add up.

Bieber Makes Surprise Appearance at Selena Gomez Concert

During Selena Gomez’s show at the Pacific Amphitheatre in Costa Mesa on Sunday night, the teen singer got a bit of help from a fellow teen pop star halfway through her show, which threw everyone in the audience by surprise.

It was her boyfriend, Justin Bieber.

He crooned the audience with his rendition of one of Justin Timberlake’s most memorable hits, ‘Cry Me a River’, and according to those who were there, the ‘Baby’ singer also performed a track of his own, ‘Favorite Girl’.

And of course, being the Twitter addict, Bieber wrote about the events of that night on the social networking site for everyone of his 10 million followers to know and gush about: “Had a #greatnight and surprised the people. felt good to be on stage. nothing is changing that. #REAL,” he also added, “@selenagomez u did great tonight. proud of u.”

The short, sudden and surprise guest stint in Gomez’s Costa Mesa show only made Bieber more excited to perform onstage again, which is why he is focusing all his attention on his new and upcoming album, which he also tweeted about: “More excited than ever to get back in the studio and make this #newalbum,” he also wrote that he wants to get back on the road badly to spread the word about his new material, “Miss the tour and want to give u all new music. #BELIEVE I do this because i love music. #REAL.”

The young couple may have very busy lives as pop stars but they sure know how to give a big shout out to their fans. Just this weekend, Selena Gomez thanked her fans after the hash tag ‘HappyBirthdaySelena’ topped the list of trending topics on Twitter. “‘HappyBirthdaySelena’ is a trending topic. Thank you all so much for a great birthday. Thank you to everyone who sent birthday wishes, I love you all,” the ‘Who Says’ singer tweeted.

Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez crash California wedding

Posted by Deena Edison On July - 19 - 2011

A video of Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez crashing a wedding in Malibu this weekend has gone viral and has been viewed by at least 100,000 people on YouTube (as of press time, it now ranks second on the site’s ‘Most Watched Today’ list). The footage, which has garnered mixed reactions – mostly negative with about half of the viewers clicking the ‘dislike’ option – was uploaded on the site by the bride’s cousin and is entitled “Justin Bieber crashes my cousin’s wedding in Malibu, CA”

It started when Bieber overheard one of his songs playing from the wedding reception while he was driving in Malibu with Gomez. It was then when he decided that it might be a nice and cool gesture to gatecrash that particular reception and tagged his pop star girlfriend along with him.

Some of the comments posted by those who viewed the clip ranged from positive: “Yeah, but the Groom and Bride obviously were happy that he was there..”, to vague: “That is just terrible”, to plain annoyance: “He crashed a complete stranger’s wedding and took all of the attention. It’s the groom and bride’s moment, not his.” For what it’s worth, the video is now circulating its way to local news outlets like the Los Angeles Times, to newspapers across the pond like The Daily Mail.

You can watch the clip here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=me2FhZea_YY and judge for yourself whether Bieber’s wedding crashing antic was endearing or off-putting.

Swift covers Bieber in Toronto

Taylor Swift resumed back to performing on Thursday, July 14, after a short doctor-prescribed break. A well-rested Taylor was at two of the Great White North’s famous cities, Montreal and Toronto as part of her ongoing Speak Now world tour. During her sold-out show in Toronto, it wasn’t one of her poignant and chart topping hits that drew the crowd wild and endeared her more to her Canadian fans, it was actually her cover of one of her contemporaries’ hits that was considered as one of the night’s highly applauded and most remembered moments (a fan video of the said performance is swirling now over at YouTube), her version of ‘Baby’, Justin Bieber’s breakout single and probably his biggest hit to date.

Bieber, a proud Canadian who is also considered as one of the country’s biggest contributions to the music industry, returned back the love to her fellow young pop star via a tweet (what else?): “Heard you sang BABY at your concert in TO. thank u for the love… might have to come by and stop in on a show.” Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift sharing the stage? That would be a blast for sure.

Meanwhile, Swift’s self-inscribed arm arts, which are song lyrics she considers to be inspirational and very meaningful, are making a bit of news as well. And it’s as if an homage to Justin Bieber wasn’t enough, at one point, people have spotted the ‘Mine’ singer’s left arm with lyrics from a song from Bieber’s girlfriend, Selena Gomez. The same arm has also paid tribute to some of Andy Grammer’s lyrics, as well.

Sales for Justin Bieber’s new fragrance, ‘Someday’, has been overwhelming, its figures are within sights from the sales figures of other celebrity fragrances like ‘Glow’ by Jennifer Lopez and ‘Curious’ Britney Spears, after it already sold more than US$3 million a month after being released in the market.

“If it sustains this momentum, it will become the Number One selling fragrance of 2011. We haven’t seen anything like it since (Jennifer Lopez’s] Glow and (Britney Spears’) Curious,” sales analyst Karen Grant of the NPD Group said in an interview with Frost magazine.

The whopping sales figures are impressive considering that the fragrance has been out for only barely a month. The launch of ‘Someday’ on June 23 at Macy’s Herald Square in New York City was mobbed by Bieber’s fans who all came to purchase the fragrance while snagging a rare opportunity to rub elbows with their famous idol. In fact, that particular launch is considered by store execs as their biggest and most hyped so far.

“Justin Bieber’s Someday fragrance, propelled by Justin’s incredible personal appearance at Macy’s Herald Square, has resonated with our customers, and has now become the biggest celebrity fragrance launch on record,” said Terry Lundgren, CEO and president of Macy’s Inc.

Bieber & Gomez share karaoke duet

Posted by Deena Edison On July - 13 - 2011

Lovebirds Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez continue to roll the streets of Los Angeles as a through-and-through couple after making sweet karaoke music together on Monday night after they were persistently clamored by the audience.

TMZ caught wind of the young couple’s impromptu duet to the tune of Kid Rock and Sheryl Crow’s ‘Picture’. Although the connection between the two pop stars is undeniably evident and electrifying, their performance per se wasn’t so. The pitch was a bit off and they clearly need to work more on their blending in the future, but in the end, they sealed the sing-off with a kiss which made the crowd really happy.

Maybe if they sang one of their own hits instead (and Bieber has a lot to choose from anyway), they would’ve probably scored a perfect 100. But hey, it’s spontaneous and they kissed, what more could we ask for?

Justin Bieber collaborates on new single with rapper Lil Twist

Posted by Deena Edison On July - 13 - 2011

Justin Bieber would clearly work with anybody in the music industry regardless of stature. So it comes as no surprise to find out that the 17-year old chart topper collaborates with a new rapper from Dallas named Lil Twist. It all started late of last year when they “met through a mutual friend”, as Lil Twist puts it. He also told Popcrush.com, “…We got real cool actually. [We] started working in the studio, sending stuff through the MacBook and everything. And then he was like, ‘Yo, bro, we should do a mixtape. Let’s go.’ We just started then.” They’re currently working on a track entitled ‘Wherever You Are’.

And just to prove how tight these two are, on Twist’s Anaheim show for the 106 & Park tour last weekend, Bieber surprised everyone when he shared the stage with the rapper for the song ‘Wind It’. And while no one from Bieber or Twist’s camp would confirm or deny it, there’s a pretty good chance that the ‘That Should Be Me’ singer would once again make a cameo for Lil Twist’s upcoming performance on Friday, July 15, at the House of Blues in Dallas. Still as part of the ongoing 106 & Park Closer to My Dreams tour, the rapper will be co-headlining the gig with Mindless Behavior, Trevante and Jawan Harris. Show starts at 8 PM and tickets go from $17.25 to $35, all ages are admitted.

Bieber joins forces to end texting while driving with new app

Posted by Deena Edison On July - 13 - 2011

Justin Bieber is taking his global fame to a whole new level after he partnered with software company PhoneGuard, Inc. to promote Drive Safe, a car software that inhibits drivers from using their mobile devices by disabling the messaging and keyboard functions of the device, particularly of cell phones, while the vehicle is moving at a speed of more than 10 miles per hour.

This is Bieber’s new advocacy and it’s actually perfectly fitting for the 17-year old pop star to campaign against the fatal and accident prone habit. After all, he has the power to persuade is millions of fans worldwide to do just the same, a fan base that literally thrives on the existence of mobile devices and social networking websites. And the singer is trying to walk the talk, as he himself is a licensed driver (rolling the streets on a Ferrari nonetheless) but is also going to great lengths to campaign against driving while texting. He even uses his sold-out shows to remind everyone of the perils of multi-tasking while in a moving vehicle. “Every night we perform we have a banner that goes up that says ‘Don’t Text and Drive’ so it really means a lot to me,” he said. And it is simply the kind of reminder that can work both ways for it is so concise and simple, it will either be ignored, forgotten or hopefully, with Bieber’s star power, it will resonate among his fellow teenagers who frequently attend his shows and who are also the frequent victims of such mishaps.

The ‘Never Say Never’ singer is known to have a soft spot for various causes. Just last March, when he appeared at ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’, he and Ellen auctioned off his lustrous blonde locks at an online casino to raise money for Gentle Barn, an organization that rehabilitates stray and abused animals. They were able to raise $40,668, which only shows how much power Justin Bieber has in raising awareness for worthy causes, whether against driving while texting or for providing care and shelter for unfortunate animals.
