President Barack Obama may be sitting in hot water for many months now for what many of his opponents believe as a lackluster first term, but he does do well in maintaining his popularity (or whatever is left from it) and closeness to the celebrity community by pulling some strings to come through with his promise to a 14-year old Justin Bieber fan.
Teenager Payton Wall lost her father to the World Trade Center attacks on September 11, 2001. She was four when her father, an executive whose office was housed in the bombed commercial tower, was among the hundreds to thousands killed in the terrorist bombing. A decade has passed and she still mourns her father’s unlawful passing, but every year has become more manageable thanks to Justin Bieber and his music, particularly the song ‘Never Say Never’. This is what her 1,500-word letter to the president contained, and after reading the heartfelt note, Obama told Payton, “I know Justin…maybe I could set something up”.
Indeed he came through as last Thursday, during the singer’s promotional appearance for his new fragrance ‘Someday’, which by the way is a female perfume, Bieber caught up with Payton, a few of her closest friends and her family. Amidst the chaotic crowd surrounding the event, the seventeen-year old chart topper made Payton’s day by posing with her and her friends for a photo, along with a life-size carton poster of the president. After which, they all sat and chatted a bit, something that many of the singer’s fans standing in and out of Macy’s in Herald Square that day could only dream of.
Avery, one of Payton’s friends, gushed, “He was really nice and is so cute. He didn’t even look real”, while Payton, still in awe, said, “It was so cool. I couldn’t even believe it”.
