Justin Bieber Tour

Archive for May, 2011

A couple of weeks after Lady Gaga broke the 10-million Twitter follower record on the popular social networking site, fellow chart topper and Grammy winner Justin Bieber has his ‘Beliebers’ to thank for being the second Twitter user to have made it past the mark.

“10 Million and growing…and everyday I will make the effort to show appreciation. #neverchanging #ILOVEMYFANS,” Bieber posted. As of press time, the ‘Baby’ singer, who is busy tackling his ‘Never Say Never’ tour across the Pacific, already has 10,080,290 followers. Lady Gaga, however, still reigns over the microblogging site, edging the 17-year old by more than 500,000 followers. To date, she now has 10,582,344 ‘Little Monsters’.

When Gaga made it past the mark, she took her amazed reaction to the website, tweeting, “10 Million Monsters! I’m speechless, we did it! It’s an illness how I love you. Leaving London smiling.” Accompanying her tweet is a photo of herself being mugged and yet surviving the swarm of photographers after her.

Bieber joins forces with Pippa on party supplies

Justin Bieber is determined to make his name a global brand, and he is partnering with the Middleton family, along with ‘Her Royal Hotness’, in his new business venture across the pond.

The 17-year old chart topper, fresh from releasing the ad campaign to go along with his first female fragrance line ‘Someday’ and from holding the record of having the most watched music video in YouTube for ‘Baby’, recently partnered with Party Pieces, a party favors company established and owned by the Middleton family, where Pippa Middleton, the family’s second child and Princess Kate’s younger sister, works part-time as the editor of the company’s online magazine, among other responsibilities. The company now holds exclusive rights to sell party merchandise like cups, hats, plates, decorations and even piñatas bearing Bieber’s name and image.

Middleton gained massive popularity after she walked down the aisle as the Maid of Honor in the recently concluded royal nuptials between her sister and Prince William, and the whole world agrees that she played the part very well, especially with the flattering and classy Alexander McQueen dress that she wore for the occasion, showing off her curves especially her buns, thus the conception of the Pippa Middleton Ass Appreciation Society Facebook page, which now has almost 230,000 fans, no wonder the media has bestowed her the title, ‘Her Royal Hotness’.

The 27-year old female media sensation is also busy juggling two more other jobs, one as an event planner for Table Talk, a London-based events company, and another for the geothermal energy firm owned by her former flame, George Percy, son of the Duke of Northumberland. With Kate now holding royal duties as the wife of Britain’s second in line for the monarchial throne, it now remains to be seen if Pippa will also be juggling a fourth job, as the Duchess of Cambridge’s Lady-in-Waiting.

Justin Bieber’s name is fast becoming a bankable brand. After stamping his name on a line of nail polishes, headphones and zit creams, he now lends his famous name on – wait for it – a female fragrance line tagged as ‘Someday by Justin Bieber’. A video ad posted on YouTube is already going viral, so it is safe to anticipate that the 17-year old chart topper’s fleet of female fans would go gaga over his new business venture.

The product will hit giant retail outlets like Macy’s, Sephora, Nordstrom, Dillard’s and Ulta on June 20, so until then, ‘Beliebers’ can drown themselves in the ad campaign that is very reminiscent of Calvin Klein’s ad for ‘Obsession’ back in the ‘80s. Bieber plays an avionic version of himself flying against the twilight sky. Soaring with him is a young blonde girl, with whom the singer canoodles in mid-air.

Venturing on ‘Someday’, which targets young female consumers, a significant part of which comprises his fan base, is probably Bieber’s smartest business move yet, considering his age and his premature yet, already skyrocketing career. A testament to his shrewd marketing sense is the product description seen along the video campaign which says, “Justin created SOMEDAY to give fans a personal invitation and intimate access to his heart. It’s a fragrance he can’t get enough of and can’t stay away from, making those who wear it irresistible.”

Bieber is working with Give Back Brands for the release and marketing of ‘Someday’. The said cooperation will ensure that a significant portion of the product’s earnings will go to charitable groups and causes. Meanwhile, Biebs just took home seven awards at the recently concluded Billboard Music Awards, including Top New Artist, which he topped off with a kiss to his date for the night and his new flame, teen pop star Selena Gomez.

Japan Tour is Still on Says Bieber

Posted by Deena Edison On May - 9 - 2011

Even though some reports have said that Justin Bieber will be cancelling his concerts in Japan, the pop star has come out to say that the tour is still going to happen. Bieber is set to hold concerts in Osaka and Tokyo in late May and verified by way of his Twitter account that his crew is absolutely not backing out of coming with him to Japan.

On Saturday, Bieber sent out a tweet that said, “I’m def going to JAPAN!!” He also sent out hashtags that said, “Make a Change,” “Citizen of the World,” and “Support Japan.”

According to TMZ, a week ago, Scooter Braun, Bieber’s manager, exchanged words with the tour crew about how safe it is to go to Japan. This was following the cancellation of Slash and Avril Lavigne who were both concerned about the radiation levels. But, based on information from radiation experts, who were contacted by E! Online, Japan’s major cities are completely safe. The radiation levels in those cities have returned to normal after being elevated for a short time in March. The food in Japan is being closely inspected. Japan has even told musicians that it is “all clear” for them to perform. This announcement was given to Maroon Five and the Metropolitan Opera touring company as well as to Bieber.

Then came the report from TMZ that Bieber said he would be traveling to Japan even if is crew did not come with him. This is in keeping with the loyalty he is known for. He even said he would play in smaller venues if he had to. Fortunately, that is not going to happen.

In other related news, E! Online is saying that Bieber fans will be happy to know that Bieber and Braun have been cleared in the Long Island mall incident that occurred in 2009. The District Attorney filed a lawsuit against the manager and Bieber’s record label following a stampede that was, he said, a result of poor crowd containment. Bieber will be required to tape a public service announcement in support of an anti-cyberbullying campaign to satisfy part of the settlement. Fans could be seeing tweets regarding this soon.

Scott “Scooter” Braun, manager for Justin Bieber, will not face reckless endangerment and criminal nuisance charges that resulted from a stampede at a mall in Long Island in November of 2009.

Based on a report from E! News, these charges were dropped on Friday, May 6 following an agreement by Bieber to tape an anti-cyberbullying public service announcement. In addition, Island Def Jam, Bieber’s record label, entered a guilty plea to the criminal nuisance charge and will pay the county back the $8,000 for the police and fire response that the incident required.

The charges were the result of an incident that occurred when Bieber appeared at the Roosevelt Field Mall in Long Island, New York. The crowd stampeded and one fan was hurt. According to the lawsuit, Braun did not properly contain the crowd after the police told him to tweet that the event had been cancelled to Bieber’s fans.
Bieber was supposed to sing songs from his album, My World, which had dropped not even a week earlier. Fans were on hand at the appointed time.

Braun would not send out the tweet according to the police report. Police stated that Braun decided that publicity was more important than fan safety. Even as the situation deteriorated, police stated that Bieber’s tweet status was still set at “On my way to Roosevelt Field Mall in Long Island, NY to sign and meet fans! I’m pumped. See u there.”

When one of Bieber’s label’s representatives was arrested, Bieber tweeted that fans should leave. His tweet said, “The event at Roosevelt Mall is cancelled. Please go home. The police have already arrested one person from my camp. I don’t want anyone hurt.”

Justin Bieber Gets Tongue Lashing from Flight Attendant

Posted by Deena Edison On May - 3 - 2011

Justin Bieber was reportedly reprimanded by a Qantas flight attendant after he didn’t fasten his seatbelt and even stood up to go to his entourage seated in coach shortly before the plane he boarded took off, which was bound to Melbourne, as reported by Sydney’s The Telegraph.

According to observers, the teen singer, who was seated in business class and just wrapped up a show in Sydney, tried to reason out diplomatically with the attendant who reasoned back that “his behavior was a security risk and that he had been acting like a child and would therefore be treated like one,” as stated in a report released by Australia’s Sky News. He eventually apologized and went back to his seat. The indignant attendant even told Bieber to “respect her workplace”, as quoted by British tabloid The Sun.

A passenger, Paul Howes, seated close to the singer tweeted about the incident: “He was a little naughty but did apologise and the flight attendant wasn’t out of order.”

Bieber Egged at Australian Concert

Posted by Deena Edison On May - 2 - 2011

Justin Bieber has certainly had things tossed at him while on stage before. He once had a water bottle that turned out not to be a water bottle thrown at him. Even so, certain audience members at a Bieber concert in Australia decided to see if they could outdo anything thrown at him before.

As he was on stage on Friday in Sydney, at least 6 eggs were thrown at him, but none of them connected with their target. Bieber was unbothered by the projectiles and continued singing as if nothing had happened.

What this means is that some members of the Australian audience spent good money on tickets for the Justin Bieber concert and took the time to conceal a carton of eggs as they entered the venue for the express intent of throwing eggs at the young star. Maybe they have nothing else to do down under since the Australian Football League is so boring.

Moreover, as he traveled to Melbourne from Sidney, Bieber was declared to be a security risk. It might be time for him to buy a few holograms.
