On Sunday November 21 awards were handed out at the American Music Awards 38th Annual show in Los Angeles at Nokia Theatre. ABC aired the show live.
The show this year was opened with a medley from Rihanna. It included her hit songs “Only Girl In The World,” “What’s My Name,” and “Love the Way You Lie (Part II).” “Fireworks” was sang by Katy Perry and “Express” was performed by Christina Aguilera from her upcoming movie “Burlesque” which co-stars Cher. Other performers on the night included Usher, Ke$sha, Pink and Bieber.
Backstreet Boys and New Kids on the Block shared the stage to close out the show. Next year the two groups will be touring together.
AMA winners, for the fourth time, were determined by online voting by the public.
