Justin Bieber Tour

Archive for April, 2010

People Magazine has just released their “Most Beautiful People” issue. Among those who made the cut are “Most Beautiful” regulars like Julia Roberts (who has a new movie coming out – Eat Pray Love), “Bounty Hunter” star Jennifer Aniston, Jake Gyllenhaal (who will be gracing the silver screen this summer in “Prince of Persia”), James Bond’s Daniel Craig, Bradley Cooper, Scarlett Johansson and Jennifer Lopez.

But the biggest surprise comes from pop crooner Justin “The BIeb” Bieber. Yes, he is beautiful but according to the magazine, what makes him more beautiful and appealing is – wait for it – his bangs. Yes, the reason why we rarely see his forehead. In fact, Bieber’s “swoosh” hairstyle has become a trend for young males nowadays. Bieber spends five minutes blow drying it after washing it with shampoo and conditioner (no wonder it appears to be soft and bouncy). He spends more time on it because it is a part of his image and what most people will remember of him, but claims that it is far from who he really is.

Other not-so-regulars who made this year’s list include Zoe Saldana (star of “Avatar” and who will also be in the Summer flick “The Losers”), “Dear John” stars Channing Tatum (who leaves women breathless because of his rock-hard abs) and Amanda Seyfried, Jessica Szohr (Gossip Girl’s Vanessa Abrams), and the recently engaged Katy Perry, who now sees herself more beautiful even without a make-up, thanks to her fiancé Russell Brand.

And who can forget pale and dramatic “Edward Cullen” from the “Twilight Saga”. Yes, Robert Pattinson has made it to the list yet again. We’re pretty sure it is his tousled hair (which most women would love to run their fingers through) and not his heavy pale and white make-up that got him in the list.

Justin Bieber was scheduled to perform in Sydney on April 26 but Sydney authorities had decided to step in and canceled the concert right there and then due to safety reasons.

The Sydney Morning Herald reported that about 4000 to 5000 Bieber fans traveled and camped at Circular Quay in Sydney Harbour just to see the teen pop sensation perform. Hours before the scheduled performance, fans have been pushing more and more forward until those who are in front got squeezed in by those behind them and the stage in front of them. The fan surge began during the wee hours of the morning – around 2 AM – when rumors broke out of a sighting of the young performer. The surge went on for several hours with several of the fans, about hundreds of them, were crushed because of the stampede. About ten fans fainted and were attended by the paramedics who were nearby the venue and a couple of the fans were rushed to the nearest hospital due to more serious physical injuries.

The police eventually canceled the concert and told everyone to go home. This resulted to major disappointment and frustration from both the fans and their parents. One parent even accused Bieber’s camp of using the fans for a publicity stunt – to clearly demonstrate how far would the Bieber fans go and do just to watch him perform. It is an utter waste of money and time, and their kids’ safety are at stake. Another teen fan, 13-year old Sophie Kelly who won a promotion to meet and greet Bieber even said the host kind of provoked the fan surge by teasing them with all things about Justin BIeber.

Justin tried to salvage the situation by performing his latest single “Baby” in the Sunrise Studio in Sydney. After which, he advised his fans to go home – as per the authorities’ instructions. He was scheduled to perform three songs for the show though.

And as usual, Bieber took it to his Twitter page to compensate, clarify, apologize and show his gratitude to his fans’ undying love and support. Saying that he loves his fans, he loves Australia and he loves to sing. His fans safety are of utmost importance and he made it clear that it wasn’t him who decided to abort the show, but the Sydney Police.

BIeber has a history of show cancelation due to fans stampede. Just last November, Bieber was scheduled to perform at the Roosevelt Field Mall in Long Island in New York when again, because of a rumored sighting of the singer, the fans – about 30,000 of them – broke out into chaos that caused a stampede and the eventual cancelation of the show at the last minute. The incident resulted not only to five reported injuries, but also of Bieber’s manager being charged of reckless endangerment and criminal nuisance. Scott “Scooter” Braun pleaded not guilty to the said charges.

Reports have also come out about a Bieber show in Paris that resulted to a fan stampede, as well. The incident in Sydney is apparently, the third fan stampede incident to be filed under Bieber’s name.

Teen Heartthrob and SNL Alum Make Sweet Music and Comedy Together

The April 10 episode of Saturday Night Live featured SNL alum and Emmy Winner Tina Fey, and current pop sensation Justin Bieber. BIeber did not only serve as a musical guest but also appeared in several skits where Fey was a part of.

Bieber was the subject of many of Tina Fey’s punch lines including one that referenced the movie “Baby Mama” starring Fey and another SNL regular, Amy Poehler. “He was one of the babies in ‘Baby Mama’ – two years ago”, Fey jokingly delivered during her opening monologue. The swarm of female audience was also specially mentioned during her opening. She later acknowledged that the legion of fans were actually Bieber’s but that was after she assumed the fans were hers and thought that she had also become a role model for young girls.

Among the highlights of the Justin Bieber – Tina Fey sketches on SNL were the Science class skit where Bieber plays a lowly high school student who flirts with his teacher, played by Fey, by sending her letters and singing to her cheesy novelty love songs. Fey’s character, on the other hand, fantasizes about Bieber’s character, even describing him as a “dreamy Christmas elf” and “a baby bunny sniffing a tiny flower”.

Bieber also takes part in the “I’m Every Woman” sketch which primarily features Tina Fey’s busy and creative life both in the small screen (as a regular on “30 Rock” and a guest in SNL) and in the silver screen (working alongside Steve Carell in “Date Night”).

And finally, to close the episode, Justin performs his latest hit ,“Baby”, from his “My World 2.0” album – live and complete with dance routines, back-ups and even doing a cover of Ludacris’ rap verse from the song. After which, he performed the song “U Smile” which he kind of dedicated to Tina Fey.
