Justin Bieber Rocks KDWB Jingle Ball

Posted by Janice Bryant On December - 8 - 2009

At KDWB’s annual Jingle Ball held Saturday night there were eight different pop radio acts playing at Xcel Energy Center. However, scanning the t-shirts present among the 14,000 concert attendees suggested that there was truly only one star in the show.

At only fifteen years old and sporting a hairdo coming straight from a 1974 Tiger Beat issue, Justin Bieber is the hottest current thing going for those young enough to think of ‘N Sync as an oldies group. With a pre-teen girl face and right foot up in a cast, Bieber busted the moves late last month during his London concert. He definitely cast a strange figure. However, it didn’t matter at all. Every time the young kid opened up his mouth, the tween filled crowd howled with unbridled lust.

Thirteen year old Taylor Lieber, representing Bieber’s target market, said it best when she stated that even though Justin broke his foot, he rox my sox.

Adam Lambert, the suddenly controversial singer and runner-up of the 2009 American Idol, was added at the last minute to the lineup. He didn’t really do too much except banter patiently with the KDWB DJs a couple of times in between the sets.

Due to the abbreviated nature of the show, most of the sets were only 15 to 20 minutes long.

Bieber Channels his Inner Eminem While Cozing Up with Jordin Sparks

The holiday festival season on radio is in full force. Not only does that give popular music artists the opportunity for making all the rounds for the holiday season, it also provides opportunities for connecting with each other. Jordin Sparks and Justin Bieber shared the bill at KDWB’s Jingle Ball that took place in St. Paul, MN. They also were able to spend some quality time while they were backstage, even snapping a picture together. On Bieber’s Twitter page, he wrote, “look at our prom picture. Great show.”

Justin Bieber had a very busy weekend. In Detroit at another concert featuring sets from 3OH!3, Pitbull, Colbie Caillat, Boys Like Girls, Owl City and Jay Sean, the fifteen year old singer from Canada, with My World, his debut album tearing the charts up currently, paused in between his songs to bust the opening verse out from “Lose Yourself,” by Eminem. Because they were playing in Detroit, Bieber gave the nod to Slim Shady. He said he needed to pay the guy that was from 8 Mile some respect. On Twitter, Bieber wrote that Eminem’s a beast.

A video capturing Bieber on the song shows him handling the song fairly well. It appears that Asher Roth was not kidding when he said that Bieber had MC skills. The thing that is interesting about the video is Bieber appears to be moving fairly well around the stage despite having his right leg in a cast due to a fractured foot. He sustained the injury a couple weeks ago during a London show. However, the injury has not stopped Bieber from doing his shows, although it has altered some of his extracurricular activities. Bieber tweeted Usher, his mentor, saying that he would play ball with him but that he had a disadvantage due to his broken foot. Bieber won’t be playing hoops any time soon but is getting plenty of cheers.
